# Decentralized Storage Gateway

High-throughput networks can experience rapid chain growth, which makes it important to keep node storage requirements practical (for example, on the order of hundreds of gigabytes) so that operating a node remains accessible.

To address long-term storage growth, the Circular design includes an optional Decentralized Storage Gateway (DSG) concept that can use cryptographic proofs (including zero-knowledge techniques) to support compression, integrity verification, and redundant archival of historical data.

DSG is not currently required for the network’s operation and is not yet implemented. The design may evolve as the network scales and as storage and proof systems mature, and any production deployment would be implemented in a way that preserves decentralization and avoids introducing a single point of control. The approach is under active design and may evolve.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://circular-protocol.gitbook.io/whitepaper/circular-protocol-architecture/decentralized-storage-gateway.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
