In the Circular Protocol, the network comprises several node types, including Validator Nodes and Non-Validator Nodes. Validator nodes participate directly in the Proof of Reputation (PoR) consensus, with operators staking reputation instead of tokens. Non-validator nodes are crucial for data dissemination and enabling ecosystem services like querying, indexing, and API access. Unlike validator nodes, which are required to maintain network security and consensus, non-validator nodes can be operated by anyone, offering flexibility to enhance network functionality without the need to stake or participate in governance. Detailed node operation guidelines are provided in the whitepaper’s technical sections.
